We arrange and organize elective or work experience placements for foreign healthcare students and professionals in the areas of medicine, nursing, midwifery, physiotherapy and dentistry

Four Weeks Placement in Zanzibar as an Example:

NOTE: Itineraries for Placements longer than four weeks will be expanded depending on the number of additional weeks.

.First week

Day One: Pick up from Zanzibar Airport or Seaport to the house. Welcome briefing and staff introduction. Relax for a while then go for a local orientation in town (will depend on the time of arrival).

Day two: Hospital orientation and introduction to your supervisor.

Day three to six: Attending the hospital in your arranged department.

First weekend: Guided tour to historical sites in Stone Town, followed by a spice tour.

Second week

Monday to Friday: working at the hospital in your arranged department.

Second weekend: Safari blue for the whole day with lunch provided. In this nice place people go for snorkeling, it’s a paradise lost paradise found! When it’s a low tide the sand bank is found and when it’s high tide, it gets lost.

Third week

Monday to Friday: Working at the hospital in your arranged department.

Third weekend: Tour of Jozani Forest, the home of Red Colobus Monkeys, then drive to Kizimkazi – the South Eastern part of the Island to swim with friendly bottle nose Dolphins. The activity takes the whole day too.

Forth week

This will be the last week (for a four week placement).

Monday to Wednesday: Working at the hospital in your arranged department.

Thursday: Sit down and write a report for a general trip feedback. Get time to share with us the negative and positive parts of your trip in Zanzibar so as to help us improve the programme.

Friday: Take your University/Institution paperwork (if any) to your hospital supervisor for signing.

Farewell night for weekend departures.

Saturday: Departure day

Work in a small cottage hospital and enjoy traditional island living with a week in a rural Zanzibar village.

This is a fantastic opportunity to broaden your healthcare elective or placement experience as well as see life in a very different part of Tanzania. Living amongst a rural community on the island of Zanzibar for a week will give you the opportunity to learn more about traditional culture as well as delivery and understanding of primary healthcare through the limited resources of a cottage hospital.
